Tour Summary:
Places to visit: Cairo, Aswan, Nile Cruise, Luxor, Nairobi, Lake Nakuru and Masai Mara. This tour gives you two very different experiences of Africa: the Ancient civilization of Egypt and the classic African safari.

Starting in Cairo, you visit the Egyptian Museum- home to a very large collection of relics from Egypt’s past. You will also see the Pyramids of Giza- one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Then you sample the Nile cruise experience. The cruise offers you a very pleasant and relaxing way to get close to the attractions of antiquity. You will see some of the famed monuments spread between Luxor and Aswan.

On the Kenya safari leg, you will view wildlife at two of Kenya’s outstanding wildlife reserves. Lake Nakuru claim to fame is anchored on its flamingo’s and the over 400 species of birds found here. It is also an important refuge for endangered species- particularly the Rothschild Giraffe and the black and white rhino. Masai Mara offers wildlife in such variety and abundance that it is difficult to believe. You will easily see the Big Five- lion, rhino, buffalo, leopard, and elephant. Not to mention numerous plain animals. The famous Masai tribesmen live within the dispersal area of the Maasai Mara Game Reserve.

Tour Length: 10 Nights Itinerary:
Day 1: CAIRO
On arrival at Cairo airport where you will be met and assisted by our representative. Transfer by air-conditioned coach to your hotel for check in. Overnight in your Hotel in Cairo

Day 2: CAIRO -ASWAN
After breakfast at your hotel, you will meet with the day’s tour guide. You visit the Egyptian Museum and, then the Pyramids of Giza, where you will also see the Sphinx -one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. You may enjoy a camel ride round the Pyramids as you contemplate the achievements of Ancient Egypt. In the evening you transfer to take the Sleeper Train to Aswan.

Day 3: ASWAN - KOM OMBO
Breakfast will be served on board Sleeper Train. Arrive at Aswan and transfer to your Nile cruiser. After lunch on board, you will be introduced to your guide. In the afternoon, you visit the Aswan High Dam, the Old Dam, The Granite Quarries and the Temple of Philae. The Granite Quarries are the site of the giant Unfinished Obelisk. Had the obelisk been successfully completed, it would be the single heaviest piece of monolithic stonework. The Philae Temple was dedicated to the goddess Isis, an important figure in Egyptian mythology.

Thereafter sail to Kom Ombo. After dinner, you may enjoy dance music.

Day 4: KOM OMBO- EDFU
After breakfast, you visit the Temple of Kom Ombo. The Graeco-Roman Temple of Kom Ombo consists of two separate temples, each with its own entrance, colonnades, hypostyle hall and sanctuary. The southern temple is dedicated to Sobek -the crocodile god, while the northern one honors Horus -the falcon god.

Thereafter sail to Edfu while enjoying your afternoon tea. After an oriental dinner, you will enjoy a Galabiya and costume party.

Day 5: EDFU- LUXOR
After breakfast, visit the Temple of Horus in Edfu. Edfu was the cult center of Horus -the falcon god. It is perhaps the best preserved of ancient temples of Egypt. Two majestic granite falcons adorn the entrance and some of the walls bear relief’s depicting Horus.

Sail to Esna while having lunch on board. And then further to Luxor. After dinner enjoy a disco party.

Day 6: LUXOR- CAIRO
After breakfast, visit the West Bank Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Hatshepsut and Colossi of Memnon.

Luxor is the highlight of the cruise. The range, magnificence and diversity of the monuments in the Luxor area is unsurpassed in all of Egypt. The Valley of Kings is where the rulers of the period historians refer to as the New Kingdom period (BC 1550-1070) awaited the afterlife. Over 60 tombs have so far been excavated in the valley. Among the best tombs to visit are those of Ramses I, Tuthmosis III and Ramses VI. Tutankhamun’s is the most famous today.

On the other side of the Valley of Kings is the Temple of Deir el-Bahri, built by Queen Hatshepsut. The temple is very impressive from a distance and is a great place to take photos. Take more photos at the Colossi of Memnon -two huge statues that are the sole legacy of the temple of Amenhotep III. You thereafter disembark for your transfer to take the Sleeping Train to Cairo

Day 7: CAIRO NAIROBI
Breakfast will be served on board Sleeper Train. After arrival at Cairo, have a day use room in Cairo. You spend the rest of the day at leisure in Cairo, before evening transfer to Airport for your flight to Nairobi.

Day 8: NAIROBI -LAKE NAKURU
On arrival, meet and assist at airport and transfer to Panafric Hotel for breakfast. After breakfast drive to Lake Nakuru in time for lunch at Lake Nakuru Lodge. At 1530 hrs proceed for an afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park.

Lake Nakuru National Park is situated in the Rift Valley region of Kenya and comprises of the blue-green Lake Nakuru, bushy grasslands and yellow acacia woodlands, the Great Rift Valley Escarpments hills and ridges. The park’s swamps and marshes are home to water birds including the famed pink flamingos and around 450 terrestrial bird species. The buffalo, white rhino, zebra, giraffe, hyena and over 56 mammal species are in abundance. Your stay is in world class lodges such as the spectacular Sarova Lion Hill Lodge or Lake Nakuru lodge. Alternatively you have the option of pitching in special campsites namely Reedbuck, Nyuki, Nyati, Rhino, Soysambu, Chui and Naishi. Public Campsites at Bacpakers and Makalia equally provide additional camping options.

Day 9: LAKE NAKURU -MASAI MARA
0800 hrs- Drive to via the Great Rift Valley to arrive at Masai Mara in time for lunch at Mara Sarova Camp. 1530 hrs- go for an afternoon game drive till dusk.

Maasai Mara Game Reserve is Africas greatest wildlife and the worlds most famous safari destination, located in Kenya. The Mara is famous for the Great Wildebeest migration - 8th wonder of the world - , roaming lions and of course the hospitable Maasai people. The 1,510 sq km reserve has a habitat ranging from riverine forests to grasslands doted with acacia tree famed for being leopard resting points. The Mara is part of the ecosystem that includes the equally famous Serengeti of Tanzania. The wildlife variety is truly overwhelming: Thomsons gazelle, zebra, black rhino, buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, fox, jackals, impalla and hippopotami in addition to the abundant bird species.

The 8th wonder of the world occurs annually in the Mara - the annual migration of millions of wildebeest, Thomson Gazelles and zebra from the Tanzanian Serengeti in search of water and pasture. Following on their heels are the predators of the Savannah - lion, cheetah, wild dog, jackal, hyena and vultures.

If photography is your prime interest then an extension of your safari will mostly reward your quest for the perfect wildlife shot. So captivating is the natural beauty of the savanna, scrubs, tree and cloud shadows not forgetting the Mara River and a myriad of seasonal rivelets some hosting the Nile crocodiles and the hippopotami. If you are lucky you can spot an endangered black rhino. The famous Maasai tribesmen live within the dispersal area of the game reserve in the surrounding local ranches.

Day 10. MASAI MARA
0630 hrs - early morning game drive in the Mara. Return to the lodge for breakfast. You spend the rest of the morning at leisure. After lunch at the lodge you proceed at 1500 hrs for an afternoon game drive till dusk.

Day 11: NAIROBI -FLY HOME
0630 hrs- Take the opportunity to fly over the Mara in a Hot Air Balloon provided at extra cost. The balloon package includes a champagne breakfast in the wild! If you can spare the money, viewing abundant game afloat a balloon is an unforgettable experience.

After breakfast return to Nairobi arriving around 1300 hrs. Drive to Carnivore for lunch. The restaurant is famed for its game meat. After a good time at lunch, drive to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight back home.
